REGION "E" ANNOUNCEMENTS

updated 9/12/08

GWRRA is implementing a new policy effective immediately. As an Officer, anytime you are holding a GWRRA function such as: monthly meetings, rides, rallies, potlucks, fun-runs, etc., and there is an accident or incident, you must fill out an Incident Report and send a copy to the Home Office within three days of the incident. Copies should be sent to the Chapter,District, and Region Directors as well. The Report should be filled out for incidents of injury or extreme confrontation. If a report is filled out immediately, the incident is fresh in everyone’s mind, and details can be recorded before they have a chance to fade from memory. This will help everyone involved in the event that a lawsuit should arise from the incident.

A copy of the Incident Report is included here. You can also obtain a copy on Officers’ Connection at www.gwrra.org/connect/ officerresources.html. Please be sure that ALL Officers are aware of this new policy and have a copy of a blank Incident
Report.

Charlie expalined that this grant will be used for `Project Educate`. T-shirts will be designed and sold on the Region Web site, at District and Region Rallies. These funds will be used to continually support our educational efforts for the MAD program, Leadership Training and Rider Education. Stay tuned as Charlie and the other MAD coordinators present this program in all of the Region E Chapters.

Date-line July 28, 2008

In the mail today the Region received a personal note from Melissa Eason, GWRRA Executive Director. The note thanked all of the Volunteers of Region E who gave of their time at Wing Ding. The smiling faces and the energy displayed by Region E were appreciated by everyone.

My personal thanks to all 125 Region E Volunteers - you are the best!

Dave & Gwen

As you know the Region is out of the Rider Education Pins & Patches business. The monies generated ( profit ) at the Region level just did not justify the time and expense of monitoring and maintaining an inventory. Eliminating the Region level should expedite future orders as your District Rider Ed. Officer can now order directly from National.

Shortly after the first of the year you received that notification.

However, for your convenience when ordering, the most current product and price list is available on the Region Web page - GWRRA FORMS / Rider ED. The excel form is interactive and self calculating .... enjoy!!

The correct and current Couple of the Year Resume’ form can be found on the Membership Enhancement page of the National Web site and on the Region E Web site. The Membership Enhancement form is a WORD document, the Region E is a pdf form that is interactive – both are printable from their respective locations.

The Couple of the Year resume that you might find listed under Officer Recourses or the on-line Officer’s Guidebook have not been updated and should not be used.

Individual of the Year program

There is an Individual of the Year patch which is now available to order through Robin Hyde, Region Patch Coordinator. The patch can be accompanied by a rocker and/or below to identify Chapter, the District or Region and the year of recognition.

Although this is not a National program it is a program that many Regions are now providing. Countless Individuals participate as singles in many chapters throughout Region E. Participating
as a single does not necessarily means that they are not married, widowed or divorced. It simply means that their participation is generally one-up. When you look at the Couple of the Year program it is viewed as the joint exceptional contribution to the Chapter. When considering the Individual be mindful of the exceptional contributions of One. The Districts are encouraged to recognize Individuals in 2008 and they will have a full year to represent their respective Districts. The Region Individual of the Year will be recognized for the first time in 2009.

Click on `Chapter & District Aids` OR on the menu on the home page to see more information.

Any questions can be directed to Gwen or Dave Carter, Region E Director

Support Region E – do your Internet buying from our web sight

If you were at the Region E Rally this past year you may have had the opportunity to speak to a representative from Shop for Zero - now advertised as Green Back Street. A great deal of research has gone into this project. Many factors have entered into this decision. First it was not my sole decision. The pros and cons of this service has been weighed on many levels. The Region staff was asked for different ideas, concerns and possible uses.

The purpose of this on-line buying service provided via our web site is to help support the Region financially. Traditionally, at the Region level, there are no fund raisers other than the yearly rally. Depending on the attendance at the rally and the related costs, pretty much dictates the usable funds for the year. Your Region Staff has been successful in holding rally expenses to the minimum but like everything the cost of a rally continues to increase. We also want to subsidize training and the related expenses there. Public Relations, the MAD program, Leadership Training, starting new chapters all come with a price tag.

Our first concern was the unsolicited email that you might receive. We have been guaranteed that you will never receive any unsolicited email from Green Back Street. I have not nor will I ever provide this buying service any type of mailing list. Your participation in this program is purely voluntary. The information that you provide a retail outlet is with your full knowledge as any purchase would be.

Here’s how it works. From the Region web site ( our portal as it is called ) your first view will be that of our home page at Green Back Street.

Here you will find a button titled ‘Create your free account’. Click on the button follow the prompts to register. Once you have registered, go window shopping. There are over 1000 retailers accessible from Green Back Street. Sears, Penney’s, Best Buy, Circuit City just to name a few.

Why is this site called Green Back Street and how is it going to help the Region and why should you join. Many of us today do some shopping on line. We all know that shopping on line often brings a lesser price for the product and it is conveniently shipped to our door steps. What makes this service different is that you will receive a percentage of your purchase price back as well as does the Region. The percentage changes from retailer to retailer and may even change from purchase to purchase.

What’s happening, as Green Back host internet links to Sears, Penney’s etc …. they receive a fee for doing so. The difference is that Green Back is sharing those fees. Now, because we are a not-for-profit organization they are offering the Region and it’s members free membership. It cost the Region nothing and it cost the member nothing.

How does the Member or Region receive this cash-back. By entering Greenback Street via the Region Web site, electronically you will always be linked with the Region. Thus, the Region will be assure of it’s percentage. When you register you provide the venue that you wish to receive your refunds - via check and in the US Mail or via your already established pay-pal account. It’s pretty simple and best of all it’s free. Once you have established an account via our portal you need not re-enter via the Region Web. Just ‘bookmark’ your selected entry location and return there each time to shop. Your initial registration ties you to the Region.

Another added incentive is that anyone who registers via our portal will be linked to the Region. So if you have a neighbor, children, grandchildren who shop on line encourage them to check this out and help your organization at the same time.

So here’s the link, shop knowing that your Support Region E and the services that the Region provides it’s members

Region E Internet Buying

The success of this program lies with the members of Region E. Your Region Staff is trying to make it easier and a lot more fun in Region E.
