For the past two years the number one glaring problem that I have seen in the Region ( and for the organization as a whole ) is the communication of information - any kind of information. I often hear; “I didn’t know” or “I didn’t hear” or perhaps “Who do I ask?”
This idea is really Toney Buzick’s. A few weeks ago Toney came to me and said he wanted a way to get the numerous ideas that folks have about MAD out to everyone.
Our members are doing a lot of good things within their Chapters and there should be an easy way to share that info with everyone. Well, the Webmaster (s) and I put our heads together, did some research and developed DATE-LINE / Region E. Just like Date-Line on TV with the latest info on many subjects, so is our DATE LINE.
How do you use DATE-LINE? It’s easy, but there are a few safety features that have been put into place that must be adhered to. First no one wants unwanted email or what one might categorize as SPAM. Secondly no one wants their email address spread all over.
All of those concerns have been addressed and tested. In order to use DATE-LINE you have to become a subscriber of DATE-LINE. To subscribe you have to first be a current GWRRA member and have been so longer than six months. Second, send an email to or call Clayton & Lynda Alcorn, the Assistant Region Directors. They are the coordinators of this project. In your email or phone conversation you will provide your name, GWRRA member number, current phone number
and the email address that you wish to use on DATE-LINE. After the Alcorns verify that your membership is current you will then be added to the data base that controls DATE-LINE. Your information
must be in the data base to send and / or receive any messages. Within 48 hrs you will then start receiving messages as they occur on DATE-LINE. Currently all Region E Staff and all District Directors are in the data base.
DATE-LINE has no archives, no way to check back and refer to information or questions. It is up to the individual subscriber to save or delete what interest them. You can not respond to the message in normal email fashion because all recipients are Blind Copied ( BCC ) in the original message. So, to respond you have to go to DATE-LINE on the Region Web Page and initiate your response and follow the same steps.
Also, as a note here for Email etiquette, on the subject line note what your talking about, MAD, RED, Chp Event, etc … That way you will be helping the reader determine if this is a subject that is of interest.
